Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is the manipulation of soft tissues of the body with the purpose of normalizing those tissues. Techniques are designed to increase oxygen to the blood flow and to release toxins from the muscles resulting in muscles relaxing. Swedish Massage is complimented by the use of other techniques such as hydrotherapy, remedial exercises, myofascial release, joint mobilizations, lymphatic drainage etc. to achieve positive physiological and psychological effects in the treatment of a client’s condition.

Lymphatic Drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle rhythmic massage technique that is used to stimulate the lymphatic system. This helps in moving lymphatic fluid which reduces swelling, pain and inflammation.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a technique that is used to reduce tension and restrictions in the fascia. Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds our muscles, bones, organs, blood vessels and found in the nervous system. Overtime with trauma, poor posture, surgeries etc. the tightened fascia leads to the tissue becoming restricted and binding. With different types of techniques we can release the fascia therefore providing pain relief, easing tension and restrictions in movement.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is incorporated into the regular Swedish Massage treatment. It is an ancient therapy which uses suction and vacuum pressure. Plastic cups are placed on the body and may be left stationary for a short period of time or may be moved along the skin depending on the specific treatment. The suction is used to soften tight muscles, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue, bringing hydration and blood flow to the tissues, and assists in lymphatic drainage. Cupping treatments may cause temporary redness and bruising.

Guasha

An alternative therapy that involves scraping or rubbing the skin with a massage tool to improve blood circulation, lymph flow and effectively treats fascial adhesions. Some other benefits include balancing yin and yang, removing toxins from the body and refreshes the mind.
